Question 13 About the Fair Housing Act - Non-Compliance
Richard Acree
The following question and answer are provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
If builders, architects, developers, or others believe that a property with which they were involved is covered by the Fair Housing Act's design and construction requirements but does not comply with them, what can they do?
ANSWER: They should seek technical assistance from a consultant with expertise in the Fair Housing Act's design and construction requirements about a plan to correct the violations. They may also consult with a private lawyer for assistance. The Fair Housing Accessibility FIRST portion of the HUD.gov website provides more information about the accessible standards for compliance.
