ADA Done Right at Fort Lauderdale Beach - 1/10/2020
Richard Acree
Look at the photo on the right. This is a good example of the Americans with Disabilities Act done right. This is beach access in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where a permanent path that is level, firm, slip resistant, and at least 36 inches wide connecting the public walkway at the street to the beach. Plus, the blue matt is designed for use by disabled because it is also flat, marked in ADA blue (not required but nice), and provides a turnaround space on the path that is at least 5 feet wide. Excellent! In fact there are many examples of how to do the ADA right in Fort Lauderdale and near the beach. Congratulations on a job well done!
