Not-a-Wheelchair Off-Road Vehicle
Check out this off-road wheelchair! The creators say shopping for an off-road wheelchair can be frustrating so they decided to put their heads together and build their own. They wanted something that’s quick, light, affordable, and long range. They came up with the ‘Not-a-Wheelchair’ off-road wheelchair vehicle that is fully electric, quiet, with speeds up to 12mph, a range of about 10-20 miles and, the suspension is built for climbing over obstacles!
I have not had the chance to test drive it yet but, the video on their website looks very inviting. Now, you may get a little dirty when off-road because there are no mud flaps to keep the dirt and water from flying up off the wheels. But these things are not made to keep you clean. They are made primarily for off-road fun and mobility but they certainly can be used for some every day mobility as well. You can see the dimensions in the graphic above and you will notice the length is larger than a conventional wheelchair. Interested parties should be mindful of the size of the vehicle. Also, it appears the vehicle requires the use of two hands to operate the controls.
Individuals with lower body mobility limitations may find the Not-a-Wheelchair vehicle helpful as an on or off-road mobility device. So find a local dealer and try one out. But be safe! And wear a helmet with eye protection. Then get going!
