Nova Series 5-Drawer Chest by Magnussen Home Recalled

Recalled Nova Series 5-Drawer Chest

The US Consumer Products and Safety Commission has recalled the Nova Series 5-Drawer Chest offered by Magnussen Home due to a tip-over hazard. See the photo on the right. About 13,200 were sold in the US and 2,520 were sold in Canada.

The recalled chests are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall, posing tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in death or serious injuries to children, or individuals who are disabled. The chests do not comply with the performance requirements of the voluntary industry standard ASTM F2057-19. For additional information please see Magnussen Chest Recall. Individuals who are disabled frequently hold onto furniture for additional stability as they maneuver around a home. Unstable furniture that can move or fall when grabbed can be a significant hazard to disabled individuals.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Nova Series 5-Drawer Chest and contact Magnussen Home for a refund. The amount of the refund will be pro-rated based on the age of the chest.

Consumers can contact Magnussen Home toll-free at 1-833-748-0210 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email at recall@magnussen.com, or online at https://www.magnussen.com/Recall or www.magnussen.com and click on “Safety Recall” at the top of the page for more information.

Aging-in-place home modifications should include choice and placement of furniture. The choices and placement of furniture will depend on the design of the home and the limitations of the people living in the home. Each situation is different.
